Full coverage of the subject
By M. Bock
This is a fantastic book for any lawyer doing international work. The scope of the book is enormous, and covers virtually every topic in international arbitration, from basic questions about arbitrator selection and institutional rules to complicated matters like the interplay between different jurisdictions' laws when a matter is governed by one law but proceedings are sited in a jurisdiction governed by another.

This book is particularly useful because unlike a lot of other texts out there, Born does not limit his consideration of topics to any one institution or legal system. Instead, he engages in an extremely detailed discussion of how various leading arbitral institutions as well as legal systems would treat any particular issue in arbitration. As a result, information that is often difficult to find or found spread across any number of texts is all aggregated together in one place. Highly recommended.

The must-have international arbitration textbook
By Arbitration Lawyer
I highly recommend this book. As a lawyer specializing in international arbitration, this book (really "books") is a must-have for my collection for at least three reasons:

First, it is the most comprehensive international arbitration textbook on the market. From discussing the origins of international arbitration in Antiquity and the Middle Ages to comprehensively covering the most cutting-edge topics in the field, this 3500-page textbook has it all. No other book on the market comes close. The footnotes alone can save a practitioner or student many hours of research and justify the price.

Second, as another reviewer already has noted, this book is written from a comparative law perspective, unlike other arbitration textbooks that are often written from the standpoint of a particular legal system (e.g., "arbitration from a French perspective" or "arbitration from an English perspective"). As such, this textbook is far more useful than its competitors.

Third, this book is chock-full of commentary by its author, Gary Born. For those that don't know Gary, he is the world's leading authority on international commercial arbitration and has successfully served as counsel in many high-profile arbitrations. This book allows the reader to peer into his mind and get his thoughts on a wide range of topics related to international arbitration. He doesn't hold back in this book, and his insights are often refreshing and thought-provoking.

In short, International Commercial Arbitration is now the undisputed gold-standard of international arbitration textbooks. Anyone interested in the subject should have a copy.

This book is an extraordinary title written by Gary B. Born.
He is a reference for people who works with arbitration and the ones who just want to know about this area. Furthermore, this book is a kind of bible of arbitration. There's no way to understand arbitration without reading or consulting this book.
