About the Author
Sandra Scarry is the former Academic Coordinator of the COPE program (College Opportunity to Prepare for Employment) at The City University of New York. She came to that position after many years of classroom teaching in English and ESOL. She has published numerous textbooks in the areas of grammar and writing.
John Scarry holds a Ph.D. from New York University and was the senior professor in the English Department of Hostos Community College, The City University of New York. He has been publishing writing textbooks for thirty-five years and his scholarly articles have appeared in many journals here and abroad.

Anyone interested in improving their english language buy this book it covers everything. You can also assist your kids with their english homework. Excellent book to have in your book collection

A Must Have for Your Performance

After being away from formal education for more than 40+ years and getting into the most basic of english classes at our local community college, we were instructed to buy this book. And after 2 semesters of using this book, I agree---It is one of the best in all aspects of learning or re-learning english. My writing skills were very poor and puncuation was a mess. If your teacher or instructor says buy it. Run and get it before they run out, you can't go wrong. Worth every penny you spend on it.

I use this book for activities in instructing my ESL students for the writing workshop. I find the chapters wonderful in grammar and writing explanations such as topic sentence, thesis statement, and in activities for going from paragraphs to essays, to name only a few of the many pluses in this book.
