Femalia

Femalia is a wonderful book illustrating the many variations of vulva. If any girl or woman thinks her vulva is deformed, ugly, etc. this book should help them understand that each vulva is unique and beautiful. The photography was excellent.

Great book for education and teaching & showing the normal variances in women's vulvas

I have two books that I really love to use with clients when teaching about 'what is normal' when considering women's bodies, and particularly when discussing sexuality and vulvas, and this is one of them.
For teaching, education, or your own knowledge of what is 'normal' for womens vulvas, Femalia , as well as The Yoni book, The Yoni: Sacred Symbol of Female Creative Power offer realistic representations of vulvas. The Yoni book in general is a positive, woman honoring elucidation of the female form and includes art, sculpture and natural formations that represent or resemble a woman's vulva as well. I really like the Yoni book for it's 'pro' woman, reverential perspective.
However, for a book that is great for teaching and solely features realistic, color photographs of vulva's Femalia is the best choice. Femalia has full color images, one per page, and most have pubic hair, some are pierced, and women of all different skin colors are included.
Personally, I think all mothers with daughters, (as well as anyone working with women and teens) should have them both. Openly discussing variances and allowing girls/teens to see what is normal will help them to have more realistic concepts of women's bodies (as well as helping girls to have a more positive self image as they grow up).

Great great great, important book!

What a wonderful book! it's small but powerful, I think it would be a great addition for anyone's library and to help teach young women about their bodies. I loved that these pictures were of women who were NOT sexually stimulated. Also, that many of them were natural. I'm shocked when I hear a women and she doesn't know what her vagina looks like. Sad. What's that saying, "The more you know....knowledge is power.
